Our Story — From Tutorials to a Movement
It started with our founder, YonniRed —
the first to offer LOC styling classes in the United States.
Before social media existed, she had already released over 30 LOC styles in publications,
and 15 years ago she began sharing tutorials on YouTube.
But she noticed something:
watching a tutorial wasn't enough to learn how to do locs consistently.
People would watch, but no one was checking their work — they wanted feedback they weren't getting.
So she started traveling the country, leading LOC styling class tours.
Through that, she realized most people don't retain the information from a single class.
That's when RedLoctician Academy was born in 2013 — to offer continued support to her certified locticians.
Today, the academy delivers online and live virtual training — theory and practice first & has over 1500 certified locticians practicing today .
Students build their styling portfolio and create hair care regimens that solve the common LOC problems,
using the exact techniques, products, and routines that make LOC styles outlast the competition.
